How to enable or disable voice access in Windows 11

This post shows students and new users the steps to enable or disable voice access in Windows 11. Voice access is a new experience that allows anyone to control their PC and send text messages using their voice.

Voice access only supports the US English language, at the moment. You will need to set the Windows display language to US English for voice access to work. It takes advantage of modern speech recognition in the device to accurately recognize speech and does not need an internet connection to work.

You can use voice access to perform basic tasks such as opening and switching between applications, browsing the web, and reading and sending email. Other tasks will be included as more features are added.

Voice access is not yet available in the stable version of Windows 11. It has just been added to the Insider Preview version of Windows 11. If you need voice access at this time, you will need to join the Microsoft Insider Preview program.
