When you join a video meeting in Microsoft Teams, you can change the background that you use for the camera. Maybe you don’t want the whole world to see what’s behind you, or maybe you want to embellish it.

You can use multiple backgrounds built into Microsoft Teams, but if you want to do something different from the rest, we’ll show you how. You can use one that is sporty, nostalgic, or perfect for the current holiday.

How to Browse and Download Backgrounds for Microsoft Teams

Visit the Microsoft Teams funds page and explore the options. Currently there are several categories of images for all tastes and styles.

FOX Broadcasting CompanyUse a background from your favorite FOX show like The Masked Singer, LEGO Masters, The Simpsons, Family Guy and more.

Fox Sports: Are you ready for football? Check out the FOX NFL Sunday, Thursday Night Football, or Big Noon Kickoff backgrounds.

Holiday backgroundGet Rufus on his plane from the 2020 Christmas announcement or show your love of winter with snowy scenes.

NBC.com: If you’re a fan of Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock, or America’s Got Talent, you’ll like the colorful backgrounds available for NBC shows.

NBC Sports: If you prefer sports shows on NBC, check out NBC Sports’ soccer-themed backgrounds.

Pride: For both messages and flags, you can download the entire Microsoft Pride collection. You will receive nearly 30 funds that represent union, action and support.

Nostalgia: Have you missed Clippy, Paint, Solitaire or the classic Windows landscape? Now you can get them with the Nostalgia collection.

Depending on the category above, you can download a group of backgrounds as a ZIP file or one at a time. Click on the option Download or choose an image, right-click and select Save Image As.

How to Add a Background to Microsoft Teams

You can add a new background in Teams before a meeting starts or after it has started.

Before uploading a fund to Teams, make sure it meets the following requirements:

  • Minimum dimensions: 360 by 360 pixels
  • Maximum dimensions: 2048 by 2048 pixels
  • File format: JPEG, JPG, PNG, BMP
  • Aspect ratio: More than four

Before the meeting

  1. Click the icon Background filters below the current camera view.
  2. When the background settings sidebar opens on the right, click Add new on top.
  3. Find the image, select it, and click To open.
  4. When the image appears at the bottom of the list, select it and click Apply to make it your background.

During the meeting

  1. Click on More Actions (three dots) at the top.
  2. Please select Apply background effects.
  3. In the background settings sidebar, click Add new on top.
  4. Find the image, select it, and click To open.
  5. When the image appears at the bottom, select it and click Apply to make it your background.
