This post shows students and new users the steps to install and use Android applications in Windows 11. Microsoft includes support or Android applications in Windows 11 that will allow you to download and run Android applications without the need for a connected smartphone.

From now on, you can only download Android apps from the Amazon Appstore, not the Google Play Store using the Microsoft Store. So you will need an Amazon account and you may not be willing to install all Android apps as you can only get them from one source.

Android apps are not yet included with Windows 11. However, by joining Insider Proview, you can get and install Android apps today. Full Windows 11 apps for Android won’t arrive until early to mid-2022, at which point you’ll simply go to the Microsoft Store and install any Android app from the Amazon Appstore.

When full support is available, a special emulator or other program will not be required to install Android applications, as this functionality is built into the Windows 11 operating system. The Microsoft Store will connect directly to the Amazon Appstore, allowing you to install any application there.

In the Microsoft Store, search for the Android app you want to install. You can also use the search function in the store to find the applications you want to install.
