This post shows students and new users the steps to install and use Android applications in Windows 11. Microsoft includes support or Android applications in Windows 11 that will allow you to download and run Android applications without the need for a connected smartphone.
From now on, you can only download Android apps from the Amazon Appstore, not the Google Play Store using the Microsoft Store. So you will need an Amazon account and you may not be willing to install all Android apps as you can only get them from one source.
Android apps are not yet included with Windows 11. However, by joining Insider Proview, you can get and install Android apps today. Full Windows 11 apps for Android won’t arrive until early to mid-2022, at which point you’ll simply go to the Microsoft Store and install any Android app from the Amazon Appstore.
When full support is available, a special emulator or other program will not be required to install Android applications, as this functionality is built into the Windows 11 operating system. The Microsoft Store will connect directly to the Amazon Appstore, allowing you to install any application there.
How to install Android apps on a Windows 11 computer or laptop
As mentioned above, you still cannot install Android apps on your Windows 11 computer, unless your computer is registered for the Microsoft Insider Preview program.
When full support is available, just go to the Microsoft Store. You can get there by clicking the Store app on the taskbar or by clicking the Start button and selecting Microsoft Store.
Alternatively, click Start and select the Microsoft Store app from your list of pinned apps.
If you don’t have Microsoft Store pinned to your Start menu, select All applications to find it in the application list or search for it using the search bar in the Start menu.
In the Microsoft Store, search for the Android app you want to install. You can also use the search function in the store to find the applications you want to install.
Once you find the apps you want, select Get from Amazon Appstore to download and install the Android application. Once the application is installed, you can use it like any other Windows application.
One to remember is that Android apps are designed for smartphones and mobile devices, and they may not fill the entire screen of your Windows 11 device.
This is how you will install Android apps in Windows 11.
In this tutorial we have seen the steps to install Android apps in Windows 11 when the feature is generally available to Windows 11 users. As of now, the only way to use it is to register your Windows 11 in the Microsoft Insider Preview program.
