To set up facial recognition authentication with Windows Hello, you will need special hardware that supports these features. For example, you will need a fingerprint reader to authenticate with your finger, and the facial recognition option requires an infrared camera or Intel RealSense.

Without these hardware options, you may not be able to use Windows Hello.

How to log into Windows 11 with your face

As mentioned above, the Windows Hello feature provides a more personal and secure way to log into Windows and help get rid of your password.

If your device is equipped with a camera that enables facial recognition, follow the steps below to set it up in Windows 11.

Windows 11 has a centralized location for most of its settings. From system settings to creating new users and updating Windows, everything can be done from your System settings crystal.

To access the System Settings, you can use the Windows key + i shortcut or click Start ==> Settings as shown in the following picture:

Alternatively, you can use the search box on the taskbar and find Settings. Then select to open it.

The Windows settings panel should look similar to the image below. In Windows settings, click Accounts, then select the Login options tile on the right panel of the screen shown in the image below.

In the login options settings panel, under Ways to log in, click on the Face recognition (Windows Hello) tile to expand it.

Then click Start to start capturing your face to log in.

Next, a pop-up window will appear to create your PIN. Enter and confirm your PIN and your camera will start registering your face.

Once you’ve captured and stored your face, you will have the option to log in with your face the next time you want to log into your computer.
