The Quick Settings menu is a hidden button located at the top of the Wi-Fi, Speaker, and Battery icons.

Once you click the Quick Settings button, it should open the menu. From there, just toggle the speaker / sound icon to mute. Doing so will turn off all sound coming out of your computer.

You can also move the slider to the far left to mute the sound coming out of your computer. When the speaker is muted or turned off, you should have a little X in front of the icon.
