It is quite annoying to find that a file that we need was blocked by our browser. However, what we must keep in mind is that this is done because they are suspicious files. If we are completely sure that the file is safe, then there is a way to avoid what Chrome lock the downloads.
We must bear in mind that Chrome blocks downloads because it considers that the file we are trying to download can damage our equipment. The best idea is to keep this function activated and only disable it in case we are 100% sure that the file we are going to download is safe.
There are many important Internet security terms, it is not something to be taken lightly and we recommend that unless strictly necessary, this option is not disabled.
How to unblock file downloads in Chrome
We open Chome and go to the upper right corner of the browser, we will click on the three vertical points.
When we click on the three-dot menu, a drop-down menu will appear with several options, the one that interests us is “Settings”.
Once we are on the configuration page, we will have to go to the left sidebar and click on “Security and privacy”.
In this section, we will go to the panel on the right and click on “Security” to access the browser’s security settings.
Now we go to the “Safe browsing” section and choose the “No protection” option. This will disable the security features of the browser. The most recommended thing is that, after downloading the file in question, we re-activate “Standard Protection” or “Enhanced Protection”.
We will have to confirm our action by pressing the “Shutdown” button in the pop-up notice that will appear.
How to prevent Chrome from blocking downloads on Android
We can also do this in the Android version of Chrome. We open the browser and go to the upper right corner of the screen, we will press on the three vertical points.
A new menu will open and we will have to click on “Settings”.
Here we go to “Privacy and security”.
In this section we go to “Safe Browsing”.
We are going to enable “No protection (Not recommended)”.
A pop-up notice will appear where it tells us why it is not recommended to disable Chrome protection, we simply click “Turn off” and that’s it.
Now Chrome for Android will not block downloads. However, we recommend that when you’re done downloading the files you need, you turn Enhanced Safe Browsing mode back on.
