To make things easier for your email recipients, you can add website links and email addresses directly to your Gmail messages. You can apply links to text directly or add links to images in Gmail itself.
Note that if your recipient receives the emails in plain text, they will not be able to click the links. To add links to text or images in Gmail, this is what you have to do.
Most users prefer to add a Gmail hyperlink to the text. You can link to URLs (website addresses) or to email addresses using the prefix mailto:.
Gmail is smart enough to decide what a link is if you type or paste the URL of a web page into your email message. This allows you to create the link with one click.
To create a simple hyperlink in Gmail, select the web address you want to link to and click the button. Link from the bottom toolbar.
You will immediately see the URL linked to that address. Easy right? If you want to edit or delete the link, hover over it and choose an option.
If you prefer to add hyperlinks to your text, such as “click here to visit our site,” you can do that as well.
Select the image in your message and click the button Link from the toolbar. Choose the web address or email address and enter the link on the right.
You can also adjust the box Text to display at the top to modify the link text. Click on To accept to confirm.
As in the previous case, you can edit or delete the link by hovering over it and choosing an option.
Linking to an email address works in the same way as linking to a website.
Link an email address
If you type an email address in Gmail, you can create a link mailto from that direction. Gmail (or another email client) will automatically start composing a new email to that address when the recipient clicks the email link.
To add mailto links in Gmail, select the text of the email address and click the button Link from the toolbar. You will then see the email address linked as it should be.
To edit or remove the email address link, hover over it and choose an option.
If you prefer to link the text to an email address like “email customer service”, it’s pretty easy to do.
Select the text you want to link and click the button Link from the toolbar. Choose Email address in the pop-up window and enter the address on the right. You can also adjust the box Text to display on top.
Click on To accept when I finish.
And again, you can edit or remove the link to the email address by hovering over the link and choosing an option.
In addition to linking text in your Gmail message, you can also add links to an image. For example, you may want to link your logo to your business email address or link a photo to information about your company on the Internet.
Select the image in your message and click the button Link from the toolbar. Choose the Web address wave Email address and enter the link on the right.
You may want to delete the text Text to display (or the link will be displayed along with your image). Click OK to add the link.
To edit or remove the link, hover over the image and choose an action.
