How to use AirPlay on Roku

- The first thing we will have to do is make sure that our Apple device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Roku device.
- Next, we will verify that AirPlay is turned on on the Roku device.
- For this we go to the Roku start menu and scroll down until we find “Settings”.
- In this menu, we will have to search for “Apple AirPlay and HomeKit”.

We will have to make sure that AirPlay is configured as “On” and that would be all in this section.
AirPlay from an iPhone or iPad to Roku
On our iPhone or iPad device we will have to search for the song, video, photograph, podcast or other medium that we want to transmit to the television. The following will vary depending on the application from which we are trying to stream.
From Spotify

For example, from Spotiy we will have to press “Devices” in the lower left corner of the screen.

In the “Listen on” menu, we are going to press “AirPlay or Bluetooth”.

Then we click on the name of our Roku TV.
From the photos app

We are going to click on the “Share” button in the lower left corner.

Next, we scroll down the Share menu until we see “AirPlay” and click on this option. To finish, we press the name of the Roku TV device.
From Apple Music

Click on the AirPlay button located in the lower center of the screen (it is an icon that has three concentric circles with a triangle at the bottom).
Then we just tap on the Roku device.
From Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video and other streaming apps

In the mobile application we will start playing the series or movie. We will click on the AirPlay icon at the top of the screen (it is shaped like a square with a triangle below).
A pop-up appears and we will have to choose the Roku device.

In case we want to duplicate the screen on our device to Roku and not from a specific application, we will have to use the “Screen Duplication” option found in the Control Center.
The first thing we will do is open the Control Center. We swipe down from the top right corner of the screen. On older devices, we access Control Center by swiping up from the bottom of the screen.
After this, we will press the “Screen Mirroring” icon.
A popup will appear and we will have to select the Roku device. It is very likely that an AirPlay passcode will appear on the Roku screen; This code is the one that we will have to enter on our mobile device.
How to Mirror Screen from Mac to Roku

We will have to verify if the AirPlay option is activated on our Mac. If we do not see the AirPlay icon (a square with a triangle protruding) in the menu bar located at the top of the screen, we will have to open System Preferences and choose “Screens”. At the bottom of Screens, we’ll check the box next to “Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available.”
After AirPlay is activated and within range of the Roku TV, we will have to click on the AirPlay button in the menu bar at the top and we can choose our device.
An access code will appear on the TV, which we will have to enter on our Mac to mirror the screen.
