Can I always send friend requests?

Of course, before we dive into that tutorial, we have to clear up some doubts about whether you can always send friend requests on Facebook, or if there are certain limitations that you should consider. Basically, you will be able to send a friend request to another Facebook user unless:

  • You’ve already sent him a friend request and he wouldn’t have responded or declined
  • One of the two would have reached the limit of friends, which as of May 2022 is 5,000 friends per account, in which we recommend removing another friend or acquaintance in order to add them to your list.
  • You have blocked the person to whom you now want to send a friend request, in which case you must first unblock yourself within this platform and, once unblocked, then send the request

And how to send friend requests on Facebook?

Most of us probably associate Facebook with the days when the phone was just for calling. Today we have the Facebook application installed, if we haven’t jumped on the wave of those who decide to uninstall it. In the first case, it is possible to send friend requests both ways.

From the desktop version

  • Start your web browser, open the official Facebook website from this link and log in to your account
  • Access the profile of who you want to add as a friend, from the search box or with another method
  • Once in their profile, next to the person’s name, click Add friend to contact them
  • Facebook will immediately send that person a friend request from you
  • If that person accepts the request, they will automatically become friends

On the other hand, if you’ve accidentally sent that request, in the same place where you used to see that button saying Add Friend, it should now say Cancel Request, allowing you to undo the action before it’s accepted. Keep in mind, though, that it is likely that the other person saw your request… and then you removed it.

From the mobile version

  • Launch the Facebook app on your iPhone or Android, and make sure you’re logged in and not another
  • Access the profile of who you want to add as a friend, from the search box or with another method
  • Once in their profile, next to the person’s name, click Add friend to contact them
  • Facebook will immediately send that person a friend request from you
  • If that person accepts the request, they will automatically become friends
