The thing is that, by default, Maps is configured to show us how to get to our destination by walking. It is up to us to tell you if we are using public transport or if we have our own vehicle. Assuming the latter is the case, you’ll need to know how to switch from Walk to Drive mode in the app.

Downloaded and launched, the procedure does not differ much from what should be done on Android smartphones.

  • Open the Google Maps app on your iPhone and tap the Search here field at the top of the screen
  • Write the destination you are going to and press the search button, in the lower right corner
  • Press the blue Directions button, and indicate which parts of your current location, or the corresponding one
    • If this is your first time opening Google Maps, it will ask you to grant some permissions; do it
  • Once the start point and end point are uploaded, you will see the amount of time to the site
    • Maps will show you the fastest route, but you can ask it to indicate another one
  • If the Walk icon is checked above your route, change to the Car one

There are some clarifications to consider such as, if you do not plan to start driving at that time, you can save the route for latertaking advantage of the Pin that is located in the lower right corner.

On the other hand, Maps gives you some accessibility features, like voice guidance for your trips. Thinking of concentrating on the road, it may be a good idea to keep it active to assist you.

In the end, to exit the Indications, you just have to click on the Exit button, at the bottom right.

Generally, Android users will be more used to dealing frequently with Maps, and that’s an advantage. Even, last destinations may be saved and that you are going to repeat one of them very soon.   • Once the start point and end point are loaded, you will see the amount of time to get there
    • Maps will show you the fastest route, but you can ask it to indicate another
  • If the Walk icon is checked, it changes to the Car icon

Something quite interesting is that we can send the routes from PC to phone to follow them once in the car. You have to press the option Send instructions on how to get to the phoneon the left side of the screen.
