Sometimes when you see a great scene from a movie or a hilarious moment from a TV show, you want to share it with your friends who aren’t around. If you watch Netflix on your Mac, you can take a screenshot of that frame and share it. But what happens when you watch something on your Apple TV 4K?

You can take a photo of that moment with your iPhone. But wouldn’t it be better to share an image with impeccable quality? Unfortunately, you can’t take screenshots directly on Apple TV 4K because there’s no button combination that allows it. That’s possible if you connect a Mac to your Apple TV 4K to take screenshots.

In this post, we will show you how to take screenshots on Apple TV 4K using your Mac.

Everything you can capture using screenshots on Apple TV 4K

The method we recommend for taking screenshots on Apple TV 4K with Mac has some limitations. Since streaming platforms offer content protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management), it is not possible to take screenshots of all content on these platforms. We tried to screenshot various streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Mubi and Apple TV Plus.

It seems that Netflix, Prime Video, Mubi and Apple TV Plus allow you to take screenshots of their interface. The moment the content starts playing, the screen goes black on Mac.

However, this is not applicable to Disney+ and YouTube, since both allow you to take screenshots while playing any content.

You can also take screenshots while playing games like Asphalt 8: Airborne on your Apple TV 4K.
