Transfer the save data from ps4 to ps5 It’s a very simple process, so we can continue our progress on Sony’s next generation console thanks to backwards compatibility.
Transfer data saved during setup
We will update to the latest system version on our PS4 to make it ready for data transfer. Then we will log in with the same user account that we are going to use on PS5. We connect the PS4 to the same Wi-Fi network as our PS5 and we will connect the two consoles using an NFT cable to speed up the transfer process.
At this point, we will have to follow the instructions on the screen and your applications, games and saved data will be transferred from PS4 to PS5. We can even continue using our PS5 while this process is taking place.
Download PS4 data from cloud storage
If we have a PS Plus account, it is possible that the PS4 save data was automatically uploaded to the cloud. If this is not the case, we will have to turn on the console and go to Settings> Application data management> Data saved in system storage> Upload to online storage. We choose the saved file that we are going to load and click on “Yes”.
In case we want to download PS4 save data from the cloud on PS5, we are going to go to Settings> Saved data and Game/application settings, then go to Saved data (PS4)> Cloud storage. Here we can see the option to “Download to the storage of the console” and we are going to click and we will see all the files that are available to download to the storage of our PlayStation 5.
Something that we must take into account is that not all the data that has been saved is compatible with PS5.
Transfer save data from PS4 to PS5 using a USB cable
If we do not have PS Plus, then we can transfer data from PS4 via USB to PS5. For this we are going to connect a USB storage device on our PS4 and go to Settings> Application saved data management> Saved data in system storage> Copy to USB storage device. We will choose the saved file that we want to copy and that we can transfer it to the USB drive.
After doing this, we will disconnect the USB from the PS4 and we will connect it to the PS5. We go to Settings> Saved data> Game / application settings, then we will choose Saved data (PS4)> USB drive. Now we will see the option to Copy to console storage.
