At the time of writing, Google’s AI Generative Search is not available to all users. To access this feature, registration through Google Labs is required. Additionally, it is currently only available in the United States. Therefore, if you are in Spain, the rest of Europe or Latin America, you will have to install a VPN on the device before you can use it. Below are the steps to access this new Google AI search feature.
Sign up via Google Labs
go to the google labs home page and scroll down until you find the “Join Waitlist” button.
Click the button and choose the “Sign Up” option if you are not logged in yet. After logging in, you will be redirected to the waiting list screen. Simply click the “Join Waitlist” button to complete the process.
Once registration is complete, wait for Google to approve your request. This process can take a few hours or minutes. Once approved, you will receive an email from Google indicating that you have access to test the new AI generative search engine.
Activate the generative search function
Open the received email and click “Go to Labs” to begin the process of activating the AI generative search feature.
On the next page, you’ll find additional information about the generative search experience and a toggle button. Tap or click the toggle button to activate the feature on your device.
You will then be presented with the Terms and Conditions related to the use of the new feature. Take a moment to read them, and if you agree, click “Accept.”
Use Google AI Generative Search
Once you’ve successfully activated Google AI Generative Search, you can take advantage of this new experience on your desktop or mobile device. Just go to Google search and type what you want to search for.
When you open the Google home page, you’ll see the new generative search banner below the search bar.
AI Generative Search will automatically search the internet and provide you with instant answers at the top of the screen. In addition, the reverse mode will allow you to ask follow-up questions and get answers instantly.
Remember that if you are using this feature outside of the United States, it is important to have a VPN enabled. In the future, when it is available to all users around the world, it will no longer be necessary to use a VPN. However, for the moment it remains to do so and wait.
