This post shows students and new users the steps to automatically lock their Windows 11 PCs when they are out and about with their Bluetooth enabled phones or devices. Windows comes with a function called “Dynamic lock” which uses a Bluetooth-connected device to automatically lock your Windows 11 computer when it is out of range.

There are several ways that Windows determines how and why to lock down a PC. Some are based on user interactions, such as pressing the WINDOWS key + L to lock your computer or click Start and select Lock. Others are time-based and will automatically lock the PC when there are no active users.

One way to also lock down a Windows 11 PC is to connect your Bluetooth-enabled device and configure Dynamic lock. Whenever you leave your computer with your device and the device goes out of Bluetooth range, Windows will automatically lock itself to prevent any unauthorized access to your system.

We show you how to configure it below in Windows 11.

The new Windows 11 comes packed with many new features with a new user desktop, including centered Start menu and taskbar, rounded corner windows, themes and colors that will make any Windows look and feel modern.
