This post shows students and new users the steps to enable or disable close sharing when using Windows 11. When you turn on close sharing in Windows 11, you can share documents, photos, website links, and more with devices that use Bluetooth or Wifi.
This feature is disabled by default in Windows 11. Nearby sharing is a useful tool, especially if you want to quickly share content with someone or a device over a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection.
You can also use Nearby sharing to share with other PCs. However, both PCs, the one you are sharing from and the one you are sharing from, must have Bluetooth enabled. With this, you don’t need a USB flash drive or external drive for sharing between PCs.
The new Windows 11 comes packed with many new features with a new user desktop, including centered Start menu and taskbar, rounded corner windows, themes and colors that will make any Windows look and feel modern.
To get started with close sharing in Windows 11, follow the steps below:

As mentioned above, Nearby Sharing can quickly help you share content via Bluetooth Wi-Fi with other nearby devices. To enable, follow the steps below.
Windows 11 has a centralized location for most of its settings. From system settings to creating new users and updating Windows, everything can be done from your System settings crystal.
To access the System Settings, you can use the Windows key + i shortcut or click Start ==> Settings as shown in the following picture:
Alternatively, you can use the search box on the taskbar and find Settings. Then select to open it.
The Windows settings panel should look similar to the image below. In Windows settings, click System, Select Share close on the right panel of the screen shown in the image below.
In the nearby sharing settings panel, select the options to share with your devices or with everyone nearby.
The settings should be applied immediately. Now you can exit the configuration panel.
Now that close sharing is enabled, you can start sharing documents and images with nearby devices.
On the PC that has the document you want to share, open File Browser and find the document you want to share. In File Explorer, right-click the document and select Show more options.
In the next context menu, select Shareand then select the name of the device you want to share with.
Make sure the other device you’re sharing with also has nearby sharing enabled. Then select it from the list of devices you want to share with.
On the receiving device, or the device you are sharing with, select Save and open or Save money when the notification appears.
To share images, follow the same steps above.
